Valentina will sing Pamina in two performances of Die Zauberflöte at the Wiener Staatsoper on 7 and 11 January. Valentina previously sang the role at the Staatsoper in June 2014, and this time will perform alongside Franz-Josef Selig, Benjamin Bruns, Markus Werba, and Iride Martinez in this production designed by Christian Fenouillat and directed by Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier. Adam Fischer will conduct.
Valentina reprises the role of Musetta in the Wiener Staatsoper’s production of La bohème in two performances on 29 and 30 October. She performs alongside Dmytro Popov as Rodolfo, Krassimira Stoyanova as Mimì and Alessio Arduini as Marcello.
Valentina’s previous performances of Musetta at the Staatsoper have received much acclaim for an interpretation that is “characteristically energetic, feisty and full of wit” (Daniel Wagner, Wiener Zeitung, March 2014).
Valentina sang the role of Susanna in a concert performance of Mozart’s Le nozze de Figaro on 3 September in the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. For the opening of the Elbphilharmonie concert series, the guest performers from the Wiener Staatsoper were conducted by world-renowned Mozart exponent Adam Fischer.
The performance followed a busy summer for Naforniţa, who in July toured China with Barry Wordsworth, Julian Lloyd-Webber and the BBC Concert Orchestra, followed by performances in August of Marzelline Fidelio with Opera de Lyon at the Edinburgh International Festival.
Following a tremendous success in the tour to China, Valentina is excited to be making her debut at the Edinburgh International Festival in August.
She will sing the role of Marzelline in Beethoven’s Fidelio, in a production by Opéra de Lyon conducted by Kazushi Ono. Contemporary media artist Gary Hill directs his first opera production and re imagines the story in future terms – on board the doomed spacecraft Aniara.

Valentina travels to China in July with the BBC Concert Orchestra, joining the orchestra for four performances.
Beginning in Shanghai on 18 July, they then travel on to Shenzhen on 20 July, Guangzhou on 21 July and Beijing on 23 July.
In a programme inspired by the Last Night of the Proms, Valentina will sing operatic excerpts from Rigoletto, Romeo and Juliet and Rusalka.
Valentina is currently reprising the role of Clorinda in Sven-Eric Bechtolf’s production of Rossini’s La Cenerentola in Vienna.
After two performances on 1 and 5 June, Valentina sings on 8 and 11 june at the Staatsoper, conducted by Jesús López-Cobos.
On June 22, Valentina will also appear in a concert with the Austrian Youth Orchestra, also in Vienna.
